Deep under the Warmth of that Blanket
Deep under the warmth of that blanket | Another Year Another Winter Another Part

Remember that frosty December night
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
You held me
You held all my broken pieces
You held my soul
One by one you picked up
All the scattered pieces
And brought them together
Brought us together
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
Your fragrance left me inebriated
Made it easy
To tread on the
Glass splattered threads of the past
Kept looking in those soothing eyes
And one by one bared them all
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
The time didn’t stop
it went on its own pace
And kept going on
It wanted to stay
But couldn’t work around a way
Time enjoyed what we were doing to time
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
The fingers kept caressing the cheeks trying to unwrinkle the tyrannies of the past
Left on the bed sheets of your memory
They ran through your hair
In an futile attempt to clear the darkness of those alleys
Sleep eluded us but who cared
At least there were us
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
You shivered all throughout the night
And each shiver shook me with fright
Every time you shivered
I wanted to hug you tight
So that the demons get scared
The next time they dared
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
There is a future waiting
If all we can do is
Let those pieces be
Where they are
And just wait for the sun
To come out in the morning
Through the dense cloud of fog
Deep under the warmth of that blanket
I won’t promise anything
I can’t
I might never be the balm to the ache
I might never clear the fog of the darkness
Or show a new way
But I do promise you one thing
From this day onwards
Every time you seek me
Wait for me
You will find me
Deep under the warmth of that blanket

It’s difficult to create a second part and that too with the same warmth but your words have done the magic again. Loved the way you phrased ‘let those pieces be.’
Thank you so much for forever being so encouraging. Thank you for reading both the parts. Means a lot. 😊👍🏽🙏🏽
Wow, blanket sequel 2 and that too with similar warmth. Kudos to your creativity and pen. Loved the line – unwrinkle the tyrannies of past, left on sheets of memory…
